Fertility Issues

Charlie and I have been trying to have a baby for a while now, without any results, so I had a meeting with my Endocrinologist today. She ran a bunch of tests and drew blood for more tests. I won't find out the blood work results until the 19th of August, but she did confirm that I do have PCOS. So, she is treating me with a low grade birth control called Mononessa and a drug commonly used to treat Type 2 Diabetes called Metformin. I do not have Diabetes, but tests show that the drug is useful in treating PCOS. Dr. Dorsett is confident she can help us get pregnant.

I will be taking the BC for two months to help regulate my monthly gift, then she will switch me to Clomiphene. If that doesn't work, she said we would try hormone shots (at $175 a shot) and Artificial Insemination. Last year, Dr. Nall had me on Provera and Clomiphene. He stated he would try 3 rounds of the drugs before trying something else. But after just the first round, I received a call from his nurse, who said they couldn't help me and that I needed to be treated by an Endocrinologist. He is not a reproductive specialist and was unable to help us after one failed attempt at fertility drugs. He suggested Dr. Dorsett. She is top of her field and has given me hope again, that someday soon, we will have our own baby. I will post an update when I have the test results back on the 19th.
